Off-Grid Power Specialists

Off-grid capability is what separates a caravan you can take anywhere from one tied to the nearest powered site. We design, supply and install complete power systems that actually work in real-world Australian conditions.

Sized to Your Van, Not Guesswork

The biggest mistake caravan owners make with solar is treating it as a plug-and-play purchase. Every van is different, every touring style is different, and a system that is perfect for weekend trips is dramatically undersized for full-time travel.

We spend time understanding what you actually do with your van before recommending anything - and we use quality components from Redarc, Victron, Projecta and Enerdrive.

Real-World Power Advice

Solar and battery work is easy to get wrong. Undersized cables melt, mismatched chargers ruin lithium batteries, and poorly located inverters overheat.

We ask about your appliances, usage patterns, how long you camp off-grid, and what you currently struggle to run. Sizing the system starts with your actual needs - not a one-size-fits-all package.

Our Solar & Battery Install Process

1

Power Usage Assessment

What do you run, for how long, how often are you off-grid? Sizing starts here, not with a guess.

2

Inspection & Design

Roof space, battery compartment, existing wiring, charger compatibility - all checked before quoting.

3

Written Quote

Every part, every labour hour, every option - in writing. No surprises at handover.

4

Install & Commission

We install, test under load, and walk you through the system so you understand how to monitor and maintain it.

Thinking of going lithium? A proper lithium upgrade includes the battery, a lithium-compatible charger, a DC-DC charger for alternator charging, and a solar controller that recognises lithium. Swapping just the battery is the fastest way to damage your new lithium investment.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on how you use the van. For weekend getaways with basic lighting and a small fridge, 150W to 200W of solar will usually suffice. For extended off-grid use with a compressor fridge, TV and charging multiple devices, we recommend 300W to 400W. For fully self-sufficient long-term travel with a large fridge, induction cooking, and air conditioning, 600W to 800W paired with lithium batteries is a common setup. We size the system to your actual power usage, not guesswork.

In most cases, yes. Lithium batteries are lighter, last 3 to 5 times longer, can be discharged much deeper without damage, charge faster, and deliver more usable power per kilogram than AGM. The upfront cost is higher but the total cost over the life of the caravan is often lower. We size the lithium system to suit your van and existing wiring, and upgrade the charger, inverter and battery management components as required.

Yes. We install pure sine wave inverters sized to your needs - from small 600W units for basic 240V appliances, through to 2,000W and 3,000W units for induction cooktops, air conditioning and microwave operation. We also install and integrate lithium battery management systems (BMS), DC-DC chargers and battery monitors for a complete power system.

Absolutely. We regularly retrofit solar systems to older caravans and motorhomes. We inspect the roof condition first to make sure it can handle the panel mounts and sealant, size a system to your needs, and install everything from panel to charge controller to battery in one job. Older vans often benefit more from solar than new ones because their original electrical system is so limited.

Not always. Most older caravan chargers are set up for lead-acid AGM and will not fully charge lithium batteries without modification. When we do a lithium upgrade we also replace or reconfigure the charger, add a DC-DC charger for alternator charging, and make sure the solar charge controller is lithium-compatible. We do not cut corners on this - a mismatched charger damages lithium batteries and voids the warranty.

A basic solar panel and charge controller install on an existing caravan typically takes 1 day. A full system upgrade including solar, lithium battery, inverter, DC-DC charger and BMS usually takes 2 to 4 days depending on the complexity of the install and the state of the existing wiring. We give you a firm timeline after inspection and quote.
